Kilim weaving is a centuries-old technique that makes for flatweave, no-pile pieces that are both aesthetically appealing and functional. Traditionally handmade in countries of the former Persian Empire, kilims are the basis of many different styles born in the region. This kilim in particular is a Gocmen piece, a category of rugs made by Turkish "gocmen", or refugees and migrants of the 19th and 20th centuries. Kilims of this type and style were usually woven on large format loom with a predominance of floral and almost carpet like motifs . 
This kilim has been sun bleached giving it its distinctive pastel tones.
Our vintage pieces are all preloved and due to the age and/or handmade nature of these items, minor signs of patination,fading, wear, or slightly unsymmetrical lines may be present. These are not considered flaws, they are part of their unique nature and why we love using them in our homes as they add both character and charm.
