Guzelyurt, previously called Gelveri, is a  town in Aksaray Province on the South western flank of Caooadıocia  in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey, is known for its traditional carpet weaving, particularly niche or prayer  carpets. Gelveri was formally a town with many Greek Christians where  ancient churches and christian architecture still sit side by side with its Muslim populationand therefore antique rugs woven in that area often feature distinctive designs influenced by this cultural heritage of Cappadocia.
