Reyhanlı is town located close to the Syrian border in South Eastern Turkey. Antique kilims from this area are amongst the finest in weave and most famous in Anatolia, The designs and motifs are clearly drawn and precise, often featuring elongated hexagonal or diamond shaped medallions as a central theme, with a composition that always has multiple borders and beautiful smaller filler motifs. The weavers use clear contrasting colours of Cochineal, (raspberry in tone), dark and medium to light blue (Indigo ), green/blue , black and white cotton. White cotton is frequently found in Reyhanlı kilims providing a unique contrast.The quality of weaving is generally super fine, the wool lustrous and the colours and designs very sophisticated.Sizes include large rectangular kilims woven in two halves, small prayer size kilims and medium rectangular kilims.Kilims have not be woven in Reyhanli for possibly 80 years and therefore high quality Reyhanlı kilims attract high prices on the international market.Our vintage pieces are all preloved and due to the age and/or handmade nature of these items, minor signs of patination,fading, wear, or slightly unsymmetrical lines may be present.These are not considered flaws,they are part of their unique nature and why we love using them in our homes as they add both character and charm
