Sivrihisar which means, "a pointed castle "in Turkish is a mid size town in the Eskişehir Province of Central Anatolia /Turkey. Best known for it's Selchuk period wooden mosque and as the birthplace of the famous Nasreddin Hoca, it is also famous for its colourful slitweave kilims and fine cicim weavings. Beautiful stepped mutiple prayer nich kilims are the most recognizable of Sivrihisar deisgns while many of the finely brocaded cicim weavings use a mutiple star or repeating diamond 'evil eye' motif. Colours tend to favour more of the yellows golds and russets used in the west of Turkey with lively pinks and natural whites included for highlights . Many original pieces are woven using goats hair or natural undyed brown wools in their foundations.
